Cucina Enoteca named to list of 25 hottest U.S. restaurants
Tracy Borkum is on fire. Her second San Diego venture, Cucina Enoteca in Del Mar, has just been named one of the 25 hottest restaurants in America by Gayot.com, a premium dining, travel and lifestyle guide.
Since it opened last September, Cucina Enoteca has been one of the toughest reservations in San Diego. The 7,000-square-foot, multilevel space is always packed and its bar scene is the "It" spot in North County.
Enoteca's popularity follows on the wildly successful heels of Borkum's sister restaurant, Cucina Urbana, in Banker's Hill. The restaurants share a similar menu of hip, Italian dishes and both dining rooms have an airy, eclectic decor.
In naming Cucina Enoteca to its 2014 Hot List, Gayot said Borkum “stands as the reigning queen of San Diego’s casual social dining scene.”
Only one restaurant per city made Gayot’s Hot 25 list.
San Diego was also recognized in the luxury guide's most elite category: the 2014 Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S.
Addison, at The Grand Del Mar, was the only San Diego County restaurant to be ranked on that list.
Addison was named alongside such iconic fine restaurants as The French Laundry in Napa, Per Se in New York, Alinea in Chicago and Providence in L.A.
The Grand Del Mar is owned by Douglas F. Manchester, who also owns the U-T.
