Del Mar Historical Society Aims To Relocate Alvarado House

The Del Mar Historical Society has longed to bring Del Mar’s first house back home ever since it was relocated to the Del Mar Fairgrounds 25 years ago. With the possible relocation of the Alvarado House to Seagrove Park on the Parks and Recreation Committee’s Nov. 12 agenda, the society’s dream could be one step closer to a reality.

Plaques mark historical walking tour in Del Mar Village

The Del Mar Village Association History Committee, under the chairmanship of local attorney Bing Bush Jr., has installed plaques on several of the historically significant buildings in the Village of Del Mar. The plaques feature QR codes that link history with each building site so that pedestrians strolling through town can learn more about each building by scanning it with a smartphone or tablet.

San Diego County Fair in Del Mar Closes for the Year

The San Diego County Fair wrapped up on Sunday, July 6, following fireworks on the Fourth of July, the Big Bite Bacon Fest on Saturday and a tribute to the Beatles closing night. According to organizers, 1,457,130 fairgoers visited the fairgrounds for the Beatles-themed event, the second-highest attendance in fair history. More than 1.5 million people attended the fair in 2012.
