Attendance for San Diego County Fair Second Highest on Record

More than 1.425 million people attended this year’s San Diego County Fair over the course of its 24-day run, fair officials announced recently. This year’s total fair attendance of 1,425,200 people makes 2013 the second most attended fair ever, according to event officials. The record was set last year at just below 1.52 million people.

May home sales and price report

Bolstered by strong sales in higher-priced regions, California  median home price records largest year-to-year gain since 1980, C.A.R. reports.

 Strong sales growth in higher-priced markets and continued housing supply shortage pushed up California’s median home price in May, resulting in the largest year-over-year price gain in at least the last 33 years, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS ®(C.A.R.) reported.

Del Mar Library - 99 Amazing Years

As the San Diego County Library system celebrates its 100th year, the Del Mar branch is marking an almost-centennial milestone of its own. In 1914, the tiny library opened in a strip mall that is now Del Mar Plaza. That same year, just a few blocks away, St. James Catholic Church began serving parishioners that, at one time, included Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Bing Crosby and Jimmy Durante. No one would have guessed 99 years ago the house of worship at 1309 Camino del Mar would one day become the house of books.
